The Opportunity


Are you a business developer who’s experienced in the industrial market space?  Do you have a strong relationship network that includes; chemical companies, manufactures, utilities, and oil & gas customers?  If you’ve sold services in construction and program management around capital project execution, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you. 


Parsons Industrial Division is a world-class leader in delivering solutions to private sector industrial clients, public sector utilities and various government agencies.  We currently seek a Vice President and Business Development Director for our Industrial Groups, Capital Projects market.  Ideally this position will be based in our Houston TX office, but you can expect to travel as required to cultivate new and ongoing business endeavors. 




·         Drives market, client and pursuit strategies in partnership with Division management

·         Develops and delivers on annual sales plan consistent with growth objectives

·         Establishes and maintains client relationships in support of new and ongoing sales

·         Follows up on ongoing sales to ensure we are delivering on our promises

·         Can develop and oversee the creation of high-quality marketing materials and winning proposals

·         Effectively negotiates contracts and commercial terms to close sales

·         Keeps abreast of market and industry trends to identify growth opportunities

·         Maintains a database of key competitor capabilities and commercial competitiveness

·         Able to understand our competitors’ capabilities and help preposition the company to be successful in pursuits aligned with our capabilities

·         Need to be comfortable in making cold calls and selling the companies capabilities in new markets.

·         Understands the importance of attending conferences and networking to develop business.

·         Needs a working knowledge of the EPC industry and how these functions are interrelated to supporting successful project delivery from the FEL phase to final project delivery.



Required Experience & Qualifications:


·         4-year degree in Engineering, Construction or Business (or equivalent)

·         15+ years of diversified experience, primarily in a business development capacity

·         Successful track record of winning work within Parsons’ targeted client base/market sectors

·         Proven results participating in an industrial business development team

·         Strong client relationships and ability to interface at all levels within client organizations

·         Strengths in opportunity identification, pre-positioning, proposal development, pricing, contract negotiations and closing sales

·         Excellent communication skills are essential (written, verbal, and presentation)

·         Working knowledge of the engineering, procurement, and construction work processes

·         Understanding of what project delivery excellence looks like and how that is accomplished

·         Capable of developing comprehensive client account strategies to produce winning results
