Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Guru   - Road & Highway – Denver, Colorado
 
 
Opportunity :
 
We are actively looking for someone with a passion for safety, and one who knows how to design new roads without stopping traffic!  As our Denver office continues to grow, we need someone that is ready for that next step in their career – to lead our Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) discipline for our road/highway design team.   We work on conventional DOT projects, and design/build for the state of Colorado, as well as other states in our region.  We offer relocation, competitive salaries, and excellent benefits, including stock ownership in the company!
 
In this role, you will be working with a team of civil design experts, on conventional DOT projects, as well as design/build projects for the state of Colorado, as well as other states in our region. As we develop and implement innovative designs for highways, intersections, and interchanges, we need a strong engineer that understands the criticality of developing MOT scenarios, along with construction phasing plans for these changes.  We look for engineers with a strong background in traffic control, traffic design and transportation planning who have a passion to improve the safety and capacity of the existing road and highway network around the state. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop maintenance of traffic schemes utilizing 2D Cad design systems using software such as Microstation, InRoads, OpenRoads, Civil 3D or Geopak
  • Will assess the potential traffic impact of proposed development/redevelopment projects and provide mitigation measures.
  • Will provide recommendations for traffic handling for new road/highway designs, and what measures will need to be in place to minimize congestion during construction phases.  
    Monitors project schedules and budgets to plan work self and team, as needed.
  • Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.  Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
  • Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
  • Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
  • Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
  • Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
  • May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
  • May provide written reports or documents, and graphics for proposals.
 
Qualifications:
  • 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • 8+ years of related work experience in traffic design/analysis and MOT, transportation planning
  • Professional Engineer ( PE)  registration is preferred.  
  • Proficiency with Microstation Inroad/Open Roads and/or Autocad Civil Geopak is essential.
  • Significant experience with Maintenance of Traffic design for construction is required.
