Join us at BGCAPP (Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant) where we will design, build, systemize, test, operate and close the plant whose mission is the safe and environmentally sound destruction of the chemical weapons stockpile stored at the Blue Grass Army Depot (BGAD) in Richmond, KY. The 15,000 acre depot stores mustard and nerve agent in rockets and projectiles. Our design concept for the pilot plant maximizes the use of existing technology from other successful chemical demilitarization facilities and well as First of a Kind (FOAK) technology. Parsons is currently seeking a  Principal Structural Engineer
Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Performs conventional and moderately-complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline.  The Engineer at this level is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices, and Company procedures.  Many assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. 
  • Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements.  This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
  • Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
  • Provides support for other engineering activities as required.  Will report to the Civil, Structural, Architectural Lead (CSA).
  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
  • Performs walk downs for As-Builts and operational needs of facilities.
  • Seals (PE) drawings for regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
 
Preferred Education and Experience:
 
  • 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and 10-12 years of related work experience.  In addition, an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate may be required.
  • PE in KY very highly desired.
  • Proficiency in utilizing CAD including Microstation and AutoCAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.
  • Proficiency with Frameworks software highly desirable.
  • Work is located in Richmond, KY.  Remote work is not available.  Must perform work on-site.

 

Special Job Requirements:  

BGCAPP is subject to the Army Regulations (AR 50-6 Chemical Surety and AR 190-59 Chemical Agent Security Program) which govern persons performing work under the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP) and Unescorted Access Program (UAP).  Depending on the work performed and the access granted a government security investigation and other physical requirements may be mandated.  Eligibility to be placed in a CPRP or UAP position requires US citizenship.

BGCAPP is a Drug Free WorkplaceAll employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment.

This position may also require use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and personnel must pass a respirator fit test and pulmonary function test.

Lifting/Carrying:  Infrequently.  Climbing: Occasionally.  Bending/Kneeling:  Occasionally.  Sitting:  Frequently.  Walking/Standing: Occasionally.  Hearing:  Able to hear audible alarms.  Vision:  Able to see/read/understand warning lights/signs.  

Ability to obtain and maintain Blue Grass Army Depot (BGAD) site access is required.  Access requirements include completion of a local records check and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check.

BGCAPP operates on a 24/7 schedule including weekends and holidays.  Ability to work a flexible schedule may be required.
