The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 4 (T4) to Parsons in August 2012. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.3 billion+ contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts: Site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. We are seeking a engineering student intern for our summer 2019 program in Burlington, MA.

Let's talk about what you would be doing:


-Assisting project engineers in the formulation of a rollout schedule.


-Assisting project manager/ project engineer in field coordination with sites.


-Learning to review site drawings for relevant information under the supervision of an engineer.


-Attending site surveys and learn how to capture relevant project information in the field.


-Uploading deliverables onto the project SharePoint site.


-Learning the FAA and OSHA requirements for various engineered systems and how to apply them in the field.


-Providing Project Management Support to Federal Aviation Administration client for technical support services at FAA facilities throughout the US.


-Supporting all aspects of the project life cycle, including project initiation, solicitation, and procurement, monitor project performance against awarded cost, schedule, and milestones, prepare written reports and briefs to illustrate project status, and support client meetings with FAA.


-Conducting site surveys at FAA facilities throughout the US, monitoring and gathering data used in project management.


-Performing a variety of basic to moderately-difficult engineering support assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques. 


-Taking engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalizes them into working drawings.


-Utilizing a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.


-Utilizing technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with codes and company policies. 


-Becoming familiar with various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME.


-Compiling data and performing routine calculations required for the either the administration of a project.


Experience & Qualifications

-Student must be enrolled in an Engineering or Construction Management curriculum at an accredited college or university and have completed at least one year of studies in a major Engineering discipline (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Management etc.).

-Requirements include PC literacy, a working knowledge of CAD, and a working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments. 

-Ability to complete field site work which may include walking up several flights of stairs and or climbing ladders without being winded.

-Some travel will also be required for site visits (10%).

-Working knowledge of Share Point will be beneficial.
